Ty Lee
After making Ty Lee’s outfit once before, I decided to do a more “realistic/ornamental” interpretation of her design this time around, taking plenty of creative liberties.
I drafted all the patterns for this costume from scratch. The top had princess seams in it, and the pants were based on harem pants. The pink fabric was a reversible dupioni silk shantung blend; the darker burgundy fabric was moleskin; and the copper fabric was cotton. The chest armor was made entirely out of craft foam, Model Magic, and Scribbles 3D Puff Paint, then painted with acrylics.
There were over 500 beads on this costume. Some other changes I made to Ty Lee’s design included the frog closures on all of the cuffs, as well as corset lacing on both the belt and the top.
I used a Jeannie in Dark Brown from Arda Wigs. I stubbed the base ponytail; there was a dowel rod and foam core to support the weight of it. The braid was made using the wefts from the clip-on ponytail that came with the wig.
