Roxas
In 2008, I made my first Organization XIII coat as a novice seamstress who didn’t know what a teflon foot was so I could cosplay as Marluxia. Ten years later, I decided to cosplay Roxas and make another attempt at this project as a way of challenging my personal progress as a seamstress.
I used Simplicity #8482 to draft my base pattern for the coat. Ultimately, I combined several of the pieces and spliced others up in order to recreate accurate seam lines. I also incorporated godets into the side seams to add fullness to the lower portion of the coat. I made my coat from clothing PVC, finished with apparel lining. The chain hardware was modeled and printed by FullHealthCosplay. I collaborated with a zipper supplier to custom-manufacture my #20 zipper. (If you’re curious, check out my Organization Coat Tutorial to see the step-by-step process!)
For my Roxas wig, I used a Ginger Blonde Jaguar from Arda Wigs. The spikes were styled using heat, hairspray, and tacky glue to seal the tips.
My Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades were also a creation of FullHealthCosplay! He modeled and printed the pieces, as well as assembled them prior to shipping. When they arrived, I primed, sanded, and painted them! I used spray paint for the base colors, then painted the accents with acrylics.
