Pokemon Trainer
The majority of our generation can agree: it’s always been our dream to become Pokemon Trainers. Until we achieve truly immersive VR technology, that full experience isn’t possible, but Pokemon GO has gotten us close! I’ll never forget that first day of running outside and interacting with Pokemon in “real life.” Definitely one of the best fan experiences I’ve ever had!
The beauty of the Pokemon GO! Trainers is that you can design them to look any way you’d like! I’ve alternated between using my real hair, a generic Amazon wig, and a Fairy Blonde Jeannie from Arda Wigs.
I customized the hat using acrylic paint. To add the details on the fingerless gloves, I used a reverse-appliqué technique. A similar technique was used to create the emblem on the front of the body suit.
I chose to make the jacket out of sweatshirt fleece for extra comfort. The trim was rib knit, while the stripe on the sleeve was made with a soft cotton knit that I dyed to match the rib knit. The body suit was made from jumbo spandex and spandex milliskin. I created the PokeBall emblem for the belt using a craft foam base covered in Thibra. It was painted with acrylics. The belt was made from two colors of cotton sateen and closed with a parachute buckle.
My UltraBall was purchased from FluxTide Designs.
A pattern for this costume (and other variations of Trainer designs) is available from Simplicity Creative.
