Desert Haru
Before making my Desert Haru costume, I had never seriously attempted cosplaying as a male character. However, after falling so deeply in love with Haru’s character and seeing his Splash Free! design… I decided to “wet my feet” in the world of crossplay.
Haru’s turban isn’t styled like a proper turban, and rather than have to wrap one properly every time I wear the costume, I made a fake turban that simply sat on top of my wig.
For the shoulder wrap, I used cotton sateen and patterned it by draping. I used spandex for both the top and the silver trim so that everything stretched enough that I could put the top on without needing a zipper or any other kind of closures. I made the harem pants using black cotton sateen. My blue sash was made from a cotton knit spandex, while the white belt was also made of cotton sateen. My scarf was made from a textured satin with golden-yellow trim found at JoAnn Fabrics.
My arm band and belt were made using craft foam bases covered in Worbla, painted with acrylics.
My sword was made by Power Loader Props.
