The holiday season is in full swing! While you may be wrapping up the majority of your presents, it’s never too late to buy something for yourself… Or, perhaps, that friend you completely forgot to include on your list because you didn’t know they were getting you something, and they surprised you with The Best Gift Ever, so now you’re scrambling for ideas at the last minute to find that perfect oh-shucks-the-mail-was-delayed present to avoid looking like a total Scrooge.
(It’s okay. We’ve all been there.)
A Holiday Gift Guide for Sewing & Crafting Enthusiasts
Once again, I’ve had the chance to partner with Redbubble to cultivate a Gift Guide for their 2018 Holiday Campaign! In this guide, I’ve curated a few amazing designs from Redbubble’s millions of unique products created by over 600,000 artists. Since 2006, Redbubble has become a hub for independent creators, helping fans share their love of their favorite hobbies, shows, and games.
While tackling my own holiday shopping, I scoured Redbubble to find the best sewing-inspired designs! This gift guide for sewing may help you with those belated gift exchanges with friends… Or finding an end-of-year treat yo’ self present to reward yourself for surviving 2018 and your family holiday parties.
Travel Mug: “Sewing Notions” by allisonrdesign
I’m a huge fan of Redbubble’s travel mugs! (There are three in my personal collection that I rotate through on a regular basis). They’re insulated, durable, and the eye-catching designs always stand out. These definitely earn compliments when I carry them with me to work. This bright sewing-themed design brings a cheerful pop of color to the gloomy days of winter!
Mug: “Old School Rules” by alexMo
If stay-at-home mugs are more to your preference, check out this retro design! It features a vintage sewing machine that’s been repurposed as a record player. I loved the graffiti-style of this artwork, plus the “Since 1902” subtitle (a reference to the 1902 Singer this design is based on).
Pouch: “Sewing Theme Print” by kapotka
Goodness knows you can never have too many storage options when it comes to crafting supplies. This zippered pouch is perfect for storing notions such as ribbons, trim, and anything else that may unravel. It would also be great for transporting tools like scissors, seam rippers, and small rulers when traveling between crafting spaces!
Throw Pillow: “Sewing Details” by Narita Thomas
This pop art pillow features a sewing machine’s presser foot and needle, emblazoned in fiery orange and red shades. It would make a bold accent for a living room or the perfect cushion for your sewing chair! I love how eye-catching it is, too. (Possibly a great conversation starter for folks who don’t know their way around a sewing machine!)
Hoodie: “Dressmaker Kit” by SurgeDesigns
When the chill of winter settles into the Midwest, I’m always searching for new hoodies to add to my closet. Redbubble’s pullover hoodies are lined with fleece, so they’ve comfy and warm! I adore the detail in this artwork (especially the embellishments on the sewing table); plus, it’s a subtle way of saying, “Hi, I sew!” without relying on text of any kind.
Tote Bag: “Seamstress” by Valerie Anderson
Bring this reusable tote bag with you when you hit the mall to spend those gift cards! The design adds a bit of the “nightmare” to “Christmas,” depicting a skeletal vulture carrying sewing needle. It definitely has a Burton-esque vibe, which is what drew me to it in the first place!
Leggings: “Vintage Sewing Machines Seamstress Pattern” by HavenDesign
I was so taken with the Dice Leggings in my Back-to-School Gift Guide that I had to try another pair! This vintage pattern adds a whimsical touch to any seamstress’s wardrobe. Pairing them with solid pieces will really make the details pop!
Clock: “Sewing Essentials” by robyriker
This clock is the perfect home decor accent for your crafting space when you have sew much to do but sew little time. Keep track of the hours you’re pouring into your projects with this elegant pattern and customizable frame/hand colors. (Note: the clock requires AA batteries, which are not included.)
Acrylic Block: “Sewing Pattern” by Elena O’Neill
At long last, I’ve finally found an aesthetically-pleasing pattern weight! This glass block was intended for wall art, but when combined with this lovely design, it makes a perfect weight. Weights can be used to hold down pattern pieces that can’t be pinned to your fabric. And this block looks way more stylish than sandbags or metal washers! Up until now I’ve been relying on water bottles, extra pairs of scissors, and other random objects… I’m looking forward to having a new tool like this at my disposal instead.
